Pumpkin Ridge Creations Gold Seal Tutorial
(Beginner)
For this tutorial, you will need Paint Shop Pro. You can download an evaluation copy HERE.
1. Open a new image, 200x200, with background color set to transparent.
2. Set your foreground color to #E9C917 and your background color to FFF587.
3. Click on your shapes tool button . Set your shapes tool options to: antialias=checked, create as a vector=checked, line width=3, line style=solid.
4. Draw a large circle. Your image should look like this:
5. Click on the text tool on the left toolbar. Click inside the circle when your cursor looks like this:
6. In the text dialog box, enter these settings: font name= arial narrow, size=14, kerning=0, leading=0, vector checked.
7. Convert layer to raster layer (on your top toolbar, click on layers/convert to raster). Click on the magic wand on the left toolbar . Click inside the circle. Now you should see a moving dotted line around the circle. On the top toolbar, click on Effects/Texture Effects/Fine Leather. Make your settings to: blur=8, number of furrows=100, length of furrows=3, transparency=255, angle=30, color=black.
8. Invert selection by going Selection/Invert on your top toolbar. Now left-click on the M's on the outside of your circle. Your image should look like this:
9. Let's make that outside rim look really neat! On your top toolbar, go to Effects/3D-Effects/Inner Bevel. Use the settings: width=12, smoothness=16, depth=4, ambience=0, shininess=0, color=white, angle=315, intensity=50, elevation=30.
10. Hit Ctrl+D on your keyboard to deselect. Now turn off your background color. Hold down your left mouse button on the background color box until the choices appear. Choose off. It should look like this:
11. Click on your shapes tool again. . Using the same settings as last time, draw a smaller circle inside the existing circle. You can center the circle after you draw it by dragging those little square nodes with a left-mouse-click to where you want them.
12. Convert the layer to raster (top toolbar, go layers/convert to raster). Click on your magic wand again. Now click on the rim of the circle you just drew.
13. On your top toolbar, go to Effects/3D-Effects,Inner Bevel and do a bevel with the same settings as last time. Hit Ctrl+D to deselect. Merge your layers by clicking Layers/merge/merge visible(NOT flatten!) on your top toolbar. Your image should look like this:
