Animated Christmas Star Tutorial
This tutorial was made with Paint Shop Pro 7. You can download a free 30-day evaluation copy of PSP7 HERE.
1.Open a new transparent image 200x200. Set your forground color to #800000 and your background color to #C00000. Using your shapes tool draw a vector star, antialis checked, line width=3. Convert the layer to a raster layer (layers/convert to raster).
2.Use your selection wand , tolerance=15 and set to RGB Value, feather=0, to select the outline of the star. Apply a metallic inner bevel (Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel)
3.Now use the wand to select the inside of the star. Add 15% uniform noise (Effects/Noise/Add). Do NOT deselect.
4. While the inner star is still selected, contract the selection by 6 (selections/modify/contract).
5. Add a blinds effect. Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds. Width=4, Opacity=100, color=#800000, all UNchecked.
6. Add another blinds effect. Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds. Width=4, Opacity=100, color=#800000, all checked.
7. Zoom in so you can see the criss cross lines well. Click on a dark line to select all of the dark criss cross lines.
8. Apply a low metallic bevel with these settings.
Deselect (Selections/Select None). Your image should look like this.
