Let's add some lights!
9. Add a raster layer and name the current layer 'lights'. (Right click on the layer on the layer palette and choose 'rename'). You can get two of these tubes free from Jasc in their Holiday tube collection. Click on your tube tool button. On your tool options box, set the scale=25 and step=150.
10. Zoom in so you can really see what you are doing. Place the lights around the star like this. Make sure the lights stay inside the star. Use Control+Z on your keyboard for a quick 'undo' each time need to.
11. If you like, use your eraser with these settings to erase the green plastic part of the lights, so only the colored bulbs are showing.
12. To move each light exactly where you want them, use your selection shapes tool. With a rectangle setting, feather=0 and antialias UNchecked, draw a rectangle around a light that you want to move. Now drag it with your mouse to where you want it. Do this with each light. You can totally rearrange your color of lights, too. Mine looks like this:
*** Twinkle the Lights ***
13. Duplicate your lights layer 4 times. (right-click-duplicate on your layer palette) Name these layers redlights, yellowlights, bluelights, and greenlights. (you can right-click-rename each layer on the layer palette). Your layer palette should look like this:
14. ** To Turn On Red Lights ** Click on your red layer to make it active. On each red light, make the light bright by going Effects/Illumination Effects/Sunburst. Use the color #FFC0C0.
1. Hit the zoom button twice.(see 1 below)
2. Drag right window so you can see the desired light (see 2 below)
3. Move the crosshairs in the left window over the desired light.(see 3 below)
** Note ** When applying sunbursts, you will only be able to see the lights on that layer, as in the image below:
15. ** To Turn On Yellow Lights ** Click on your yellow lights layer to make it active. On each yellow light, make the light bright by applying a sunburst with color #FFFFC0 and these settings:
16. ** To Turn On Blue Lights ** Click on your blue lights layer to make it active. On each blue light, make the light bright by applying a sunburst with color #C0FFFF and these settings:
17. ** To Turn On Green Lights ** Click on your green lights layer to make it active. On each green light, make the light bright by applying a sunburst with color #C0FFC0 and these settings:
18. ** To Turn All Lights On ** Click on your red lights layer to make it active. Right-click-dupicate the layer and name it lightson. On each light, make the light bright by applying a sunburst of the correct color. Use the settings for each color as you did above. Your star should look like this:
