Sea Creature Charm Bracelet
Tutorial

For this tutorial, you will need:
Paint Shop Pro7...get a trial copy here
Sealife Shapes Zip file...get it here

Shut down Paint Shop Pro, if you have it running. Download the Sealife Shapes file and unzip it into your shapes folder while NOT running Paint Shop Pro. My folder is at c:\program files\jasc software\paint shop pro 7\shapes. Now start up Paint Shop Pro.

1. Open a new image, 400x400 with transparent background. Click on your tube button on the left toolbar, and use these settings: Rope tube, scale=30, step=1.

2. Draw a large circle in the middle of the canvas. Leave large spaces around all edges.

3. Click on your magic wand on your left toolbar . Set tolerance=80,and click on the chain. On your top toolbar, go Effects/Texture Effects/Sculpture. Use these settings:
size=100, smoothness=0, depth=8, ambience=0, shininess=63, intensity=30, angle=315, elevation=56. Save these settings as 'gold chain' for your future use. Control+d to deselect.

4. It should look like this:

5. Add a new layer (layers/new raster layer on the top toolbar) and name it 'charms'. Set your forground paintbrush color to #C0C000. Turn the background color and textures off.

6. Click on the shapes tool on your left toolbar. Scroll down in the shapes and choose the prc_octapus shape you just installed. On the Tool Options toolbar, use settings:
shape=prc_octapus, antialias=checked, line style=solid, line width=3.

7. Draw an octapus shape at the bottom of the bracelet. Use the magic wand to click on the shape and move it to where you want it. Control+d to deselect. Now repeat Steps 6 and 7 for each of the 5 sea creature shapes you want to use.

8. Click on your paintbrush on your left toolbar and use these settings:
shape=horizontal, size=17, hardness=100, opacity=100,
step=25, density=100, build up brush=UNchecked.

9. Left mouse click once or twice at the top of the chain to make a clasp. Your image should now look something like this:

10. Use your magic wand , while holding down the Shift Key, and click on each of the charms and the clasp you just made. This should select them all, if you are holding down the Shift Key on your keyboard. On your top toolbar, go Effects/Texture Effects/Sculpture. Use these settings:
size=100, smoothness=50, depth=20, ambience=0, shininess=35, intensity=30, angle=315, elevation=56. Save these settings as 'gold charms' for your future use. Control+d to deselect.

11. Click on the eraser tool on your left toolbar. Use the settings:
shape=round, size=5, hardness=100, step=25, density=100.
On ONE side of each charm, erase a little bit of the charm where it overlaps the chain. This will allow the chain to show through and the charm will look like it is actually on the chain.

Pretty easy, wasn't it!? I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions or comments, please email me.
