Christmas Tree Background Tile Tutorial
This tutorial was made with Paint Shop Pro 7. You can download a free 30-day evaluation copy of PSP7 HERE.
Download this preset stocking shape HERE and unzip it into your preset shapes folder.
** Please note that many of my screenshots are resized larger so you can see them better. Your image should always be 50x50 pixels. **

1. Open a new image, 50x50, with a transparent background. Flood will with color #C00000.
Zoom in about 200-300% so you can see the details of what you are doing. If you have a mouse with a middle wheel, you can roll the wheel up and down to adjust the zoom.

2. Set the forground color to #DD0101. Use your paintbrush with these settings. Click on the upper left hand corner once with the paintbrush.
It should look like this:
Now put one square in the lower right hand corner of the image, like this:

3. Turn your background off and your forground on. With your shapes tool, select the stocking shape.
Draw one stocking in each light colored red square.

4. Convert to raster layer. New raster layer. Set your line tool settings to this:

5. Let's do all of the horizontal seam stitching. Click your paintbrush once time at each of the following locations to put stitches down the left side of the image:
1,5
1,10
1,15
1,20
1,30
1,35
1,40
1,45

6. Now put them down the right side of the image at these locations:
49,10
49,15
49,20
49,30
49,35
49,40
49,45
Now put them down the middle seam of the image at these locations:
24,5 26,5
24,10 26,10
24,15 26,15
24,20 26,20
24,30 26,30
24,35 26,35
24,40 26,40
24,45 26,45
It should now look like this:

7. Let's do all of the horizontal seam stitching. Set your paintbrush settings to this:

8. Click your paintbrush once at each of the following locations:
top seam:
5,1
10,1
15,1
20,1
30,1
35,1
40,1
45,1
bottom seam:
5,49
10,49
15,49
20,49
30,49
35,49
40,49
45,49
middle seam:
5,24 5,26
10,24 10,26
15,24 15,26
20,24 20,26
30,24 30,26

45,24 45,26
Your image should look like this:

Save as a jpg image, and it can be used for a repeatable tile.
