Christmas Tree Background Tile Tutorial

Download this preset tree shape HERE and unzip it into your preset shapes folder.
Download this preset Tree Background Selection zip fileHERE and unzip it into your selections folder. My selectionc folder is at c:\program files\jasc\psp7\selections.

1. Open a new image, 50x50, with a transparent background. Set your forground color to #00C000. Set your forground color to #00DE00.
Selections/Load from Disk/prcbox1.sel. Flood fill with foreground color #00C000. Selections/Load from Disk/prcbox4.sel. Flood fill with foreground color #00C000.
Selections/Load from Disk/prcbox2.sel. Flood fill with background color #00DE00. Selections/Load from Disk/prcbox3.sel. Flood fill with background color #00DE00. Control+D to deselect.

2. Zoom in about 200-300% so you can see the details of what you are doing. If you have a mouse with a middle wheel, you can roll the wheel up and down to adjust the zoom.
Select color #008000 for your forground and background. Turn your forground color on and your background color off. With your shapes tool, select the tree shape "prc_christmas tree". Draw one tree shape on each of the two dark squares with the following settings:

3. Convert to raster layer. New raster layer. Turn your background off and your forground on. With your line tool, draw a horizontal line from 0,5 to 50,5. Look at your bottom left hand corner of your screen to see the exact location of your cursor.
Your line should look like this:

4. With the same settings, draw additonal horizontal lines: ** NOTE that 0,25 is skipped! **
from 0,10 to 50,10
from 0,15 to 50,15
from 0,20 to 50,20
from 0,30 to 50,30
from 0,35 to 50,35
from 0,40 to 50,40
from 0,45 to 50,45

5. With the same settings, draw the following vertical lines: ** NOTE that 25,0 is skipped! **
from 5,0 to 50,0
from 10,0 to 50,10
from 15,0 to 50,15
from 20,0 to 50,20
from 30,0 to 50,30
from 35,0 to 50,35
from 40,0 to 50,40
from 45,0 to 50,45

6. Use your eraser with these settings:
Center the eraser square in the middle of the first green square and click once to erase the excess lines like this:

7. Now do the same for each of the other 3 large green squares. You should be left with a repeatable tile that looks like it has a quilting stitch around the borders:
