12. You need to see your layers toolbar to change the solid flood fill into sprinkles.
On your top toolbar, chose View/Toolbars.
Click on 'Layer Palette' and then 'close'.
Do not un-click the other toolbars unless you want them to disappear.
Hang in there! We're getting there!
13. On the Layer Palette, click on the word 'sprinkles'.
On the right side of the palette, click on the word 'normal'.
On the menu that pops up, choose 'dissolve'.
To the left of the word 'Dissolve', left click on the handle and drag it left until you like the look of your sprinkles on the image.
I chose the number 15.
14. Now on your top toolbar, go to Layers/Merge?Merge All (Flatten).
On the same toolbar, choose Selections/Select None.
Almost there! This is what it should look like:
15. I made my background transparent and saved it as a GIF image.
To do this: Click on your eye dropper on you left toolbar.
Now right-click on the background of your heart cookie (the white).
On your top toolbar, click on Colors/Set Palette Transparency.
A pop up notice comes up. Click 'yes'.
On the next pop up, select the following options and click ok.
On the next pop up, select the following options and click ok.
16. To see the transparent background, click Colors/View Palette Transparency.
Name your creation 'Valentine Cookie' and save it as a 'Compuserve Gif'. Saving it as a Gif will keep the transparent background that you just made. Other types of image files like .jpg and .bmp do not support transparent backgrounds.
All Finished! Your finished image should look like this:
***** NOTES *****
If you want to add more colors of sprinkles, just add a layer for each color.
The opacity dissolves should be larger on the lower layers, in order to see all of the colors on the image.
A good combination is to start with 20-25, then 15 on the next layer, 5 on the top layer.
You can also decorate your cookies with candies or piped icing.
To make piped icing, draw a bezier or freehand line of 2-5 pixels wide, then select the line and give it an inner bevel.
Make sure you finish decorating and do any resizing before you turn it into a transparent GIF. If the image loses detail after resizing, sharpen it a bit by clicking on your top toolbar Image/Sharpen/Sharpen. Make sure you resize before you save it as a .gif, or you will lose clarity.
Great Job!!
