Each winter, we try to think of projects that will both beautify our yard and help the wild critters around here at the same time. Here are a few ideas. I will add more as they come to mind or as they are given to me.
** String cranberries and fruit onto string and use for garland on trees, bushes, handrails on porches. ** String popcorn onto string and use for garland on trees, bushes, handrails on porches if you have no trees. ** Make fruit ornaments and hang outside on a tree or balcony. Slice fruit like oranges and apples in half. Thread string through the middle of each piece of fruit and tie ends of string together. Voila! ** Make little baskets out of old cardboard egg cartons. Cut out into 12 small baskets, or leave as one big basket. Line the bottom with peanut butter, then fill with wild birdseed, cheerios, bread crumbs, etc. Hang in a tree and watch the hungry birds flock to your yard! |
