Each year, right after Thanksgiving, I like to hit the sales in the stores. Christmas is my favorite time of year!!
** First we put on some Christmas music to set the mood. Then, we haul down the boxes of Christmas items from upstairs and dust them off. ** The tree goes up first. We have an 'artificial' one due to allergies. After stringing the lights on it, we wrap a garland around it and hang all of our treasured ornaments. The glass balls always go on last, and only if there is room enough for them to fit. We turn off the overhead lights and turn on the Christmas tree lights. Our light sets are musical, and we love listening to them at night. ** Cover table tops and shelf tops with Christmas print fabric or with white quilter's batting. Top them with Christmas decorations you have bought, ornaments that would not fit on the tree, and baskets/bowls of glass balls and pinecones. ** Using the left over wrapping paper from last year, we wrap some empty boxes and set them under the tree. The flat ones look great hanging on the walls. The windows get special treatment with garland, pinecones, baskets of glass balls that would not fit onto the tree. One wall is reserved for hanging Christmas cards. ** Heading outside, we hang fruit ornaments on the trees for the critters. We also wrap some of the trees with popcorn garland. The other trees are wrapped lights, as is the house. ** That all done, we start our Christmas baking while listening to Christmas music. Cookie, fruit bread, and hot chocolate aromas tickle your nose throughout the house. ** Christmas time is here! ** |
